The last Online Conference I attended in Sydney (Jan 2009) was notable for the number of audience members participating via instant messaging or blogging ... unfortunately, utilising the technology seemed to distract some participants from the discussion at hand ... probably dependent on individual competencies for multi-tasking.
However, I'm still uneasy with the concept and terminology of being ‘followed’ by random contacts … no doubt mitigated by familiarity and regular use ...
