Easter 2010

autumn skies and
Easter days:
  • scanned blog feeds and noted several too many detailed reads for later - information literacy, time management resources for free, security on the iPad, split screen on the iPad to enable music (purely academic interest; will not be getting one), internet 2010 and libraries, Twitter ...
  • scanned CSU discussion, forum and class fb pages and noted more reads and sl experiment sites for later
  • scanned the house and garden - way too much renovating, fixing and renewing even for later!
  • added Easter greetings and photos from my garden to friends and family on fb
  • uploaded Easter family photos to photostream and flickr family group
  • read a little
  • contributed a little online
  • avoided total immersion in study or social media via real life talking to neighbours, visiting family, purchasing local second hand treasures and contemplating the colours of sun and misty rain, roses, camellias and clouded blue skies.
  • trivia for today? does sl have seasons? and does virtual living really develop imaginative (Lego Universe, Dizzywood, Moshi Monsters), caring (ClubPonypals) and responsible citizens (Whyville, MinyanLand), for an environmentally conscious future (Ecobuddies) or simply accustom teenagers to competitive demands (Action Allstars) and consumer societies (Gaia online, Stardoll, Buildabearville, MyMiniLife)? Research findings from Kids, Tweens and Teens in Virtual Worlds: A KZero Worldswide Case Study. 2006-2009. What is clear is the immense corporate income potential from site membership fees (where applicable) and active 3rd party advertising (where applicable). Purchases of either goods or inworld currency are effected by credit card, encouraged by the close virtual relationship between inworld advertiser and player. Interesting sociological observations to trial in sl consumer ventures ... phip irelund will have to go shopping!
