Education is a matter of accepting what you have failed to recognise … once upon a time I studied language and literature, structuralism, nouveau roman and analysis of poets … at my peril I have neglected post-modernism, deconstruction and all that follows after … and now am faced with sidestepping into a game of constrictive academe … learning new rules on the run … every synthesis of ideas to be accompanied by 5 supporting references … conjecture and creation? … a game of chess, moving author names around the board, reflecting to outwit the assessment rubric, cutting and pasting to corner the king … no wonder academics are turning to blogs, aliases and creative photography …
but like chess, does the logical brain learn to love it ...
